Whenever Canadian Tire is out of stock of a particular item, customers always ask for a rain check on it. It is quite common in every Canadian Tire and being employed there, I get asked this question all the time.
The process is thoroughly easy; the customer just has to have their name written down on the rain check slip along with their phone number so they can be contacted when the next order of that specific product arrives to the store.
However, just like any other box store, Canadian Tire does not issue rain checks for every item in its store because some items are on sale and only for a given period and customers obviously want the price on the rain check to be the sale price. This creates a lot of havoc and many customers threaten to post bad reviews to that certain store which is why some managers will overlook the policy in hopes of keeping a loyal customer.
The layaway policy is considerably similar to the rain check policy because Canadian Tire will happily hold a product for a customer, as long as there is not a limited supply of that item or a big sale. Sometimes you will see in weekly flyers that there is no holding products that are part of a sale. This is because Canadian Tire wants the sale to be first come-first serve in hopes that customers will buy more products alongside the sale product.
I find it interesting when I hear people tell me the experiences they have had with rain checks and layaways regarding certain products and how some managers disregard the policy and some do not. I would like to hear if you have or know anyone that has had an experience with either of these in the comment section below!

Hello everyone, my name is Austin Adams and I am the creator of this blog. I am a transfer student to Sheridan College via Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario and I am in the three year business administration finance program. When I noticed Canadian Tire was a topic, I jumped on the opportunity to write about it because I am currently employed there. I started working in November in the seasonal department and I am enjoying my time there. I have learned about the product information system in order to help customers and I have also learned about the many different products and services that they offer. I hope you enjoy reading this blog and feel free to comment wherever you would like because I strongly encourage feedback!
FYI TO ALL CANADIAN TIRE CUSTOMERS.
ReplyDeleteTHIS WEBSITE IS NOT UP TO DATE! We just left Canadian tire in Smith's falls to enquiry on a rain check we got black Friday on a instant pot. We were just told all rain checks have been cancelled due to corporate changes they cancelled everyone's rain checks with no notice to customers. If this is so should I not see this notification here on their website? Not very good customer service especially when a company is making changes.

ReplyDeleteThis is the most silly sentence I have read. Is there a reason for a Rain Check other than the option to purchase at the sale price? No-one is going to request a RC for a regularly priced item. A RC is a service a store offers so people will return and continue to shop at the store. If a sale item is always out of stock what would be the purpose of shopping at the store, I would just go to the nearest in-stock competitor and request a price match. Complete silliness to assume the store has an obligation to keep customers happy.
Does Canadian Tire have layaway. Like twenty dollars a month.
